The board approved Kathryn Cruz as the new principal of West Elementary starting with the 2025-26 school year. Upon the retirement of current principal Beth Klinsky at the end of the current (2024-25) school year, Cruz will assume her new position on July 1, 2025.

For the Winter Elevate Award, 10 winners were announced out of 42 nominations.

Crystal Lake District 47’s own Trevor Keegan is set to attend the biggest game of his life this weekend. The District 47 alumnus, who attended Glacier Ridge Elementary and Bernotas Middle School, is a left guard (#79) for the Philadelphia Eagles who are in this year’s Super Bowl. 

Join Dr. Kathy Hinz on episode 5 of 'Deep Dive with Dr. Hinz' as she the new math curriculum, exploring what problem-based instruction means and what it looks like in the classroom. Dr. Hinz is joined by Dr. Carolyn Stadlman, Director of Math, Science & STEM, along with Krystal Winsor, Kindergarten teacher at West Elementary, and Hannah Martel, 7th grade math teacher at Hannah Beardsley Middle School.
